To the nest: Néstor Araujo and Jürgen Damm, made official by America for the 2022-2023 season

America continues to strengthen with a view to the 2022-2023 campaign of Liga MX. This Friday, through social networks, the ‘Eagles’ confirmed the signings of Néstor Araujo and Jürgen Damm. The center back and the winger joined the ranks of the team led by coach Fernando Ortiz after the incorporation of striker Jonathan Rodríguez.

“Don’t worry, azulcremas, I’m already an eagle”Araujo said in the presentation through social media of the Coapa group. “Since I was a child I always dreamed of playing with América, the biggest and most important team in the country. It was always my dream. Playing a game with them was the feeling and affection for the institution in which I always dreamed of playing”Damn said.

Néstor Araujo, who went through the Cruz Azul youth academy and was in Santos Laguna, will return to Liga MX after four years in Spain. In that period, the defender belonged to the ranks of Celta de Vigo. With the Galicians, the Aztec closed an important cycle in his career with 133 official commitments and four conquests.

Araujo, regularly called up for the Mexican national team, knows what it is like to lift trophies in Mexico. With the ‘Máquina’, the 30-year-old soccer player won the 2013 Clausura Mexico Cup. With the ‘Guerreros’, the defender raised the same trophy, but from the 2014 Apertura, the 2015 and 2018 Clausura Leagues, in addition to the Champion of Champions 2014-2015.

On his side, Jürgen Damm was released after passing through Atlanta United of Major League Soccer. Later, the winger participated in the preseason of America and was able to convince coach Ortiz that he could be an important piece for the squad. For this reason, only this Friday the hiring of the Tuxpan-born became official.

Damm, 29, appeared with Tecos and then went to Pachuca, but his best moment was with Tigres. With the “Felinos”, the player won the Liga MX four times (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019) and the Champion of Champions three times (2016, 2017 and 2018). Thanks to this, the footballer was considered for the Mexican team.
