Xavi Simons would have been in the sights of Real Madrid

Xavi Simons made it official, a few days ago, that he was leaving Paris Saint-Germain to sign for PSV in the Netherlands. The Dutch midfielder is looking for new opportunities and, for this reason, he chose the ‘Rojiblanco’, although he would have been tempted by Real Madrid.

In accordance with L’Equipe, the Spanish team was aware that the 19-year-old player was going to leave the Parisian cast and both parties had some first contacts. However, the talks did not bear fruit.

The French media points out that the idea that the white club had in mind to sign the footballer and then send him to Real Madrid Castillo so that he fulfills his adaptation process. Later, he would go to the main squad, however, Xavi Simons rejected that proposal.

The midfielder wanted continuity and knew that at PSG he would have few opportunities due to the number of stars in the first team. Given this scenario, the athlete was encouraged to sign for PSV Eindhoven until 2027.

PSG manager praises Xavi Simons

John de Jong, sports director of PSV, heaped praise on the Dutch midfielder and detailed the reasons why he signed the player. “We have seen almost all of their matches this season, as well as matches with the national team”He pointed out at a press conference.

“We also saw him live in the Youth League in Leipzig, Paris, Bruges, Manchester and against Sevilla. He convinced us. Xavi has everything it takes to become a major PSV player. He’s ready to get it.”he added.
