Diego Elías advanced to the round of 16 of the US Open Squash

Diego Elías continues with his great participation in international competitions and thus, leaving the name of Peru on high. On this occasion, the athlete qualified for the round of 16 of the US Open Squash.

The national representative defeated the French Baptiste Masotti 3-0 (11-8, 11-8 and 12-10) in a close duel. Especially the third set was very close, however, the Peruvian athlete emerged victorious.

Now, Diego Elías will seek qualification for the quarterfinals. On this occasion, he will clash with Welshman Joel Makin who defeated Egyptian Fares Dessouky 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-2).

It is important to mention that the national representative ranks fourth in the world with 12,555 points. First place goes to New Zealander Pablo Coll (17,925), followed by Egyptian Ali Farag (17,710) and third place to Mostafá Asal (15,020).
