Arturo Vidal says goodbye to his father: “Rest in peace, dear old man”

The week has been hard for Arturo Vidal and his family, after the death of his father, Erasmo, last Tuesday, at the Club Hípico de Santiago facilities. The soccer player did not hide his pain at the tragic news and shared a heartfelt farewell message to his father through social networks.

“Rest in peace, dear old man… ‘Chokita'”, wrote the Flamengo flyer on Instagram, adding some images of the wake that takes place in Chile. Let’s remember that the 35-year-old athlete did not travel to Santiago, but stayed in Rio de Janeiro and even played a game with his club.

Precisely, after learning of the death of his father, it was speculated that Vidal would travel to Chile with special permission from “Mengao”, although in the end it was not like that and he was on the field a day later (Wednesday, October 12): he entered 65 minutes in the 0-0 draw, away, against Corinthians, in the first leg of the Brazilian Cup.

Although the midfielder did his usual job, he did not stop sending messages to his relatives. It is worth mentioning that Arturo did not have much relationship with his father for a long time, since his childhood, but the bond improved in recent years and he began to work together with Erasmo in horse breeding.

Due to his work, Don Erasmo Vidal regularly attended the Equestrian Club of Santiago, to take care of the animals and talk with the riders. Unfortunately, last Tuesday he showed health problems in the facilities of the compound and, despite the medical help, the doctors of the place and the SAMU, he died due to cardiorespiratory arrest and hypovolemic shock.
