Craig Goodwin surprised the French team with the goal that made it 1-0 in favor of Auastralia. Faced with this scenario, ‘Les Bleus’ were forced to react and they did so: with notes by Adrien Rabiot and Olivier Giroud, the Europeans turned it around, for date 1 of Group D of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
After an unsuccessful corner kick, the ball reached Theo Hernández, at minute 27. The full-back raised his head and sent a cross into the area. In that area, Rabiot rose and, without any mark, overcame the resistance of goalkeeper Matthew Ryan, to make it 1-1.
From then on, France kept trying to score and, five minutes later, they did. Rabiot unfolded and, in the area, he left it served to Giroud, who defined in first, to decree the 2-1, result that was maintained until the end of the first half at the Al Janoub Stadium.
