World Cup: “One Love” logo behind the Germans at a press conference

At the center of the brands is a colored heart, a symbol of inclusion and diversity. On a panel installed behind the players at the press conference, the German federation (DFB) replaced the Rewe brand logo with the One Love campaign logo. The supermarket chain just ended its partnership with DFB, six weeks before the original end of the contract, due to controversy surrounding the move away from inclusive armbands.

Therefore, the federation took “an opportunity in the context of the almost daily press conferences in Qatar to maintain its position on the One Love campaign,” she explained in a press release. So Kai Havertz and Julian Brandt accompanied the logo in question as they answered questions from reporters.

Manuel Neuer, like the captains of the other six teams, had to wear this armband. After all, no one will wear it. The Germans abandoned the threat of possible sports sanctions. Before the first match against Japan, lost 2-1, the eleven titled Mannschaft players posed for the official photo with their hands covered, feigning a joke against the ban on demonstrations in favor of diversity. The gesture is clearly directed against FIFA.

In the gallery, German Interior Minister Nancy Feiser wore the “One Love” armband along with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
