DT from Morocco explained the reason for Bono’s absence against Belgium for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

Yassine Bounou or, better known as Bono, became a trend during Morocco’s 2-0 win over Belgium for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but not because of a great save that saved the African team. The goalkeeper sang the national anthem with his team, but then ‘disappeared’ and his place was taken by the substitute goalkeeper.

Users on social networks began to put together hypotheses about what happened to the goalkeeper who plays in Seville and is also one of the figures in the African cast. Although, after the game, the DT of the ‘Atlas Lions’, Walid Regragui, explained the reason for the absence of the goalkeeper.

During the press conference, the Moroccan strategist revealed that Bono was not feeling physically well. For that reason, the goalkeeper asked him to replace him and, in his place, Munir entered, who saved his team on several occasions.

“In the game against Croatia, he was injured in the last minutes and it took him three days to recover. He started to warm up and after a few minutes he started to feel bad and he asked me if he could replace him. He was honest and left his place to someone else. If he did not feel 100%, he had to leave his place ”, he pointed.

On the other hand, Walid Regragui highlighted the participation of the goalkeeper, who was initially a substitute, but stopped under the three sticks during the match against Belgium. “I appreciated Munir’s attitude, because he did a great job”he mentioned.

When will Morocco play again?

The Moroccan team added 4 units and equaled the score with Croatia for group F of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Although, the African team is located in the second box due to goal difference. The squad led by Regragui will face Canada on Thursday, December 1, which is eliminated.
