Vicente del Bosque had a good passage as coach of the Spanish team, the former technical director managed to win the trophies obtained such as the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the Eurocup, Poland-Ukraine 2012. However, despite winning 2 important trophies, he confessed that in that time, he tried to convince Lionel Messi to play for ‘La Roja’.
“Among those that I have known in so many years in football, for my Messi, due to his regularity and his quality as a player, he has been impressive. He has had some fantastic seasons and has always led his team forward”said del Bosque for Radio Marca.
“I tried everything so that Messi will play for Spain. However, he refused because of the love he has for his country. By regularity and quality, he has been the best player I have seen ”he added.
“We have a good generation of players. You have to take the best: be they young or old. I do not believe that age, in any case, is a merit. You have to have a lot of confidence in this generation of players. Coming first in a World Cup is very difficult”ended.
