Chamonix will prepare a bid with Switzerland to host the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Winter Games on French soil in just seven years? This is still just a guess, but it could be on the way. In one of its articles, the Swiss daily newspaper Le Temps, in any case, mentions the preparation of an application file around the Espace Mont-Blanc, uniting Switzerland and the canton of Valais, several cities in northern Italy and France, more precisely Chamonix.

Four years after the events in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy), the great white circus of Olympism may return to the Swiss Confederation, which has not hosted the Winter Games since St. Moritz in 1948. If the announcement was attended by all parties concerned about salivation, but it is far from over. According to Le Temps, the Swiss Olympic Committee still considers it premature to nominate a new candidate after the failure of the Sion 2026 project, which was rejected in a referendum in Valais in 2018.

France has not hosted the Winter Games since Albertville in 1992. Before that, of course, there was Grenoble in 1968 and… Chamonix in 1924, first edition.
