César Cueto at the Purslane Night: “I am happy, happy to be here” | VIDEO

In the Purslane Night 2023, a match that faces National Athletic Y Lima Alliance, a tribute was paid to various figures who passed through the Colombian institution such as César Cueto. The ‘Left-handed Poet’ is well remembered in Medellín and today was evidenced by the love shown to him by the fans at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

Between 1979 and 1983, César Cueto played a total of 162 games with Atlético Nacional and scored 47 goals. In addition, he won the national title in 1982. His numbers, and his football, left a mark on the ‘purslane’ fans.

Subsequently, the former soccer player spoke with the international chain Win Sports about what he experienced at the Atanasio Girardot stadium and was grateful to everyone.

“Happy, happy to be here, to come after good weather, to long for and remember wonderful things, both about football and the people themselves. I am happy, grateful for everything and for all the people, ”he began by saying.

“It is important that everyone has their own way of playing. It is important to love it, to keep it. When I have played here I have also had players of a good level. I just had to add something else, it was a sensational thing. My thing was to play, have fun, I never kept anything in that sense. When it comes to playing, never lose joy”, added César Cueto.

On the other hand, he recalled his time at Atlético Nacional. “For me it has always been a joy to play. We had a good team that played quite offensive and cheerful. We played at home and away in the same way. Enjoying with them (his former teammates), that is the greatest joy I have had every Sunday and every Wednesday that we played, ”he said.

“Aside from playing, I’ve always had to work hard. Playing, building character, at home I have always had important help. Working hard, playing here I have matured a lot. All this is a sum, I have left something and correspond to the people in the same way, ”she said.
