Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Alejandro Garnacho’s ability to attract players makes him one of the most unique players in the Premier League.

Garnacho has had an excellent breakaway campaign under ten Hag, with his influence growing in Saturday’s Manchester derby as he came from the bench to assist Marcus Rashford’s winner in a 2-1 win.

The former Atletico Madrid youngster put in a fantastic performance beating Nathan Ake to find his team-mate.

“He has a skill that I don’t see in many players in the Premier League – he beats players one-on-one,” ten Hag said at a press conference ahead of United’s Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

“He has learned in the last few months how to play in a team, how to live, how to do the right things in the week, how to have the right attitude on the training pitch and you see how he behaves as a team player and with his individual skills that can make the difference.

“It is also up to him to continue the process. It is not done yet. There’s still a lot to come.

“There is a lot of room for improvement with him, but he can help, he can contribute at the highest level and I am very happy.

“It’s a bonus for us as a club that you bring in young players and they can get into the squad not only but into the squad and I think that’s part of our project that should help our success.”

Garnacho made his senior debut at the end of last season but had to wait for his next opportunity at ten Hag as he was concerned about his signing earlier in the season after arriving late for pre-season training sessions.

The Argentina U20 international made his full Europa League debut against FC Sheriff in October and scored his first goal for the club in the same competition against Real Sociedad the following week.

Garnacho also scored an impressive final against Fulham in the last game before the World Cup break, adding five assists in all competitions.

The youngster could be lined up to take on Palace when United return to action in a big game against Arsenal on Sunday.
