At the gates of the party Peru vs. MoroccoJuan Reynoso assured that the Peruvian team is in a position to fight for the first places in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-organized by Mexico, Canada and the United States.
“Beyond proper names, I believe that Peru today is in a position to continue being a competitive team and fight the tie not over the last third of the standings, but to fight much closer to the first two or three places. That is the plan”, Reynoso told GolPerú.

The ten member countries of Conmebol asked FIFA on Wednesday for the South American qualifier to begin with a double date next September, with the same order of matches that was used for the Qatar-2022 qualifying round.
The competition will grant six and a half places to South America for the next World Cup, which will go from 32 participants to 48, but the match schedule must still be approved by FIFA at its meeting this week in Kigali (Rwanda).
According to the petition, the Inca team would start the World Cup by visiting Paraguay and receiving Brazil in Lima. The team that finishes in the seventh position of the South American qualifier will play the intercontinental play-off, in March 2026.
