- Location: Marseille
The city of Marseille was chosen to host the sailing competition. “European Capital of Sports” in 2017, Marseille was distinguished by the configuration of its marina at the Rukas naval base, capable of accommodating a large number of spectators, by its climatic conditions and low tides.
- Sport: sailing
An Olympic sport since 1900, however, sailing is one of the least popular sports at the Games. Eight different events were organized in Rio, including windsurfing.
- Spectator capacity
The organization provides 5,600 seats in the stands and 10,000 standing places, in particular in the Corniche de Marseille.
- Equipment condition: built, facilities are planned
The site should be subject to work to adapt it to the Olympic configuration. After the Games, the site will return to the public and become the national training center for the French sailing team.
