Goodbye Stade Français and Ciao, Italy! Gonzalo Quesada is likely to cross the Alps in a few months. The Argentine coach, not left by Stade Français (Top 14), will become the new coach of the Italian national team, as L’Equipe clarified on Thursday, confirming the information from Midi Olympique.
Quesada, 49, will replace New Zealander Kieran Crowley, whose departure was officially announced today. He will take up his post early next year and will lead Italy at the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
Unselected by the Parisian club he has managed since 2020 (and from 2013 to 2017, the French title in 2015 and the European Challenge two years later), the former Argentinean Pumas (38 rebounds, 486 points) will be replaced by Laurent Labite , director of rugby, who will be accompanied by Karim Gozal, head coach.
Thank you Paris ⚡️⚡️⚡️ https://t.co/5Bjuh6zKCr

His contract was due to end in 2024. A new one may be signed soon. Assistant to France (2008-2011) and Argentina (2018), this will be his first experience as head coach of the national team.
