Max Verstappen enters the Italian Grand Prix with the chance of a record tenth consecutive victory, bringing him even closer to his almost inevitable third Formula 1 championship title. The Dutchman shone in front of a mass of home fans during the Grand Prix from the Netherlands achieving a victory in difficult weather conditions that allowed him to increase the difference in the drivers’ championship to 138 points over his Mexican teammate, Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez.

The closest rival to Red Bull’s hits this season is Spanish veteran Fernando Alonso, 171 points behind the Dutchman despite an impressive season at Aston Martin.

Alonso may not have a chance of winning his third crown, but his performance at Zandvoort suggests he may be the best candidate to stop Verstappen in his quest for a 12th win of the season.

Ferrari will seek to give a better image to its fans than the one shown last weekend, with Carlos Sainz in fifth position while Charles Leclerc had to retire.

On Saturday, the drivers will take part in a third and final free practice session starting at 12:30 p.m. local time (05:30 a.m. Peru), before the qualifying session takes place at 4:00 p.m. (09:00 a.m. Peru).
