Universitario de Deportes was crowned for the tenth time with the Women’s League after beating Alianza Lima in the grand final on September 2. And as national champions, the ‘Leonas’ achieved a place to face the next Copa Libertadores.
The top women’s club tournament on the continent will begin on October 5, 2023. Let us remember that Universitario is located in Group B, along with Santa Fe (Colombia), Olimpia (Paraguay) and Universidad de Chile. For this reason, the club has decided to reinforce itself with three foreign players.
Gisela Pino, 31-year-old midfielder, will arrive at the ‘cream’ store after a season at Deportivo Cali. Before that, she spent 13 years in Colo Colo, where she achieved outstanding performances that led her to the Chilean team.
The second addition is Angie Salazar, a Colombian national and 23 years old. In her country she wore the shirts of La Equidad, Deportivo Pereira and Club Deportivo Cali, with the latter she achieved fourth place in the Copa Libertadores last year.
Finally, Gabriela Urueña, also from Colombia, despite her young age (20 years), has already had the opportunity to wear the shirt of the senior team. She arrives from Club Llaneros, from her native country.
