Youth League: PSG Titis lost from the start in the match against Dortmund

The first failure from the very beginning for Titis. Zuman Camara’s men fell short of their target against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday in their first Youth League match of the season. There was still room left, but a magnificent goal after half an hour of play was enough to make the Germans happy, who forced PSG to respond in the next meeting, which took place on Wednesday 4 October in Newcastle.

Match: should have been done much better

Despite the difficult terrain, the Parisians got off to a good start. Sangare was the first to shine, well served in space by Bensoula, but his cross shot missed the target (13th). Gadu, after a good breakthrough, in turn did not fall into the trap, delivering a deflected shot slightly higher (18th place). As soon as the storm died down, Borussen gained momentum and opened the scoring for Reickhoff with a superb play from outside the box. Parisian goalkeeper Laurendon could have played better (0:1, 31st place). He made up for it five minutes later by winning a duel with the same player (36th place). Not enough to wake up his troops.

Overall, Titis lacked composure in the final 30 metres, and the lack of effectiveness was felt again upon returning from the dressing room. Ethan Mbappe tried to start a rebellion by breaking into Sangaret’s service, but the Montrouge turncoat missed another face-to-face (65th). The last situation fell to Nhagi, whose header from a corner was brilliantly saved by Dortmund goalkeeper Lisevski (86th place). Enough to feel regret for an opponent who is largely tolerant and timid when under pressure. As if defeat were not enough, the Parisians will not be able to count on Nhagu in Newcastle next month as the Portuguese was ruled out late in the game.

Player: Ethan Mbappe

Returning to his category after making the first bench in Ligue 1, Kylian Mbappe’s younger brother lined up in front of the defense on Friday night. Interesting at the start with several high recoveries, he, like the rest of the team, slowed down after twenty minutes before signing up for a more convincing second half. It is he who is at the origin of the big situation, on the hour mark, when he finds Sangare after resisting four opponents on a 35-meter run forward (65th). Replaced by Meechut in ’80, he was active but failed to improve sufficiently on the good balls he played.

Quantity: 7

Having been defeated by Dortmund in the round of 16 last year (5-6 in the standings), PSG U19s found Borussia with a team largely rejuvenated by the contributions of the 2006-2007 generation.

Among the 11 players Zoumana Kamara started, seven had never played a Youth League match. Indeed, before the meeting, only Yoram Zage (6 matches), Ethan Mbappe (6), Kamil Bensoula (2) and Joan Gadu (1) had experience in this competition.
