“Reynoso has a style that is ideal for Qualifiers like these, the most difficult in the world” | INTERVIEW

The actor and television presenter, who is also the image of the brand adidascombines his passion for acting with football, and at the beginning of a new qualifying process towards the 2026 World Cup, he responds about one of his greatest fanaticisms: the peruvian teamwhom he has been lucky enough to accompany quite a bit in recent times.

-How do you experience the preview of a Peru match?

I’m always too nervous, almost, almost like a soccer father. I feel that the players are calmer than you, but you live it that way because you want the best for the country, right? You know that a positive result for Peru will not only be reflected in the standings, but also in the feelings of Peruvians. That’s why I feel so nervous before games.

-Would you sign a position for the Peruvian team at the end of these Qualifiers?

Give me the position that takes us to the World Cup. In other words, the place that takes us to the World Cup, give it to me. Because after, fourth, fifth, and so on, it could even be anecdotal, right? Unless we have this playoffs that always leaves us with the same nervousness, tension and anxiety. To me, as long as the place we are in the table takes us to the World Cup, I’ll sign anyone.

-How do you see Juan Reynoso at the helm of “La Bicolor”?

I see him as a serious technician. I think he is a coach who is very focused, who has his own strategies, who has a game system, an interesting style of play, who is also ideal for qualifiers like the ones we face, which are for me, the most difficult qualifiers in the world. I sincerely hope that things go well for you. It worries me when there is this mentality, even before qualifiers start, of negativity, right? I prefer to transmit and raise good vibes to our current Peruvian coach, and I think he is going to do quite well. Let’s hope.

-Who do you think could be the hidden one, a player that we don’t have much of but who ends up being important for this process…

I think that of the new features, Reyna, which has already been tested, is one of the ones I like the most. Unfortunately he couldn’t be there for these first games (against Paraguay and Brazil), but with his goal against South Korea (friendly in June), I think he has already shown that he is up to the task and that he will give a lot to the team. . And furthermore, those who were already within this family, which they call the Peruvian team, have welcomed him very well and have respect and admiration for him, and that is the most important thing. I think Reyna has entered in the best way, he is winning over the public with his scoring in the national team, and he is one of the players I am most interested in seeing in this qualifier.

-How do you see Paolo Guerrero thinking about these qualifiers towards the 2026 World Cup?

I don’t want to risk it precisely because of this double date, but I think that Paolo, in addition to having rejoined, having returned to his duties as a 9, which we have already seen in LDU, I think he has gained football intelligence. Beyond what he gave us before, as a forward to whom he could send the ball into space and could fight it with all the defenders, I think that today he has a mental capacity that leads him to make better decisions. And that is the Paolo that we have and that I think we are going to take advantage of. I give Paolo all the faith, and once a goal from Paolo scores, I think more of these will not stop appearing.

-Do you think there could be any team that becomes a disappointment in this Qualifier?

I see it from another side, rather, because this has just begun. And we have to be careful with respect to the opinions of the teams, who are also our rivals. But I see that there are teams that are looking to get out of that place at the bottom of the table where they have always been. I want to see how Bolivia or Venezuela are going to present themselves from now on. Bolivia had a very tough start (they were defeated by Brazil and Argentina). But everyone, knowing these extra places we have for the World Cup, has been concerned about trying to be as prepared as possible for these qualifiers. That should give us respect for our rivals and not think that anyone will fall by the wayside, but rather, we should not be the ones who are going to be relegated. We go game by game, adding what is the most important thing in these qualifiers and proposing systems for each of these teams.
