Santiago 2023: Peruvian delegation ready to parade at the inauguration

The national delegation of athletes, made up of 216 athletes, will parade at the inauguration of the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023 It will take place this Friday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. in Peru) at the National Stadium of Chile, located in the commune of Ñuñoa.

The national team, led by flag bearers Gladys Tejeda and Nicolás Pacheco, will carry a tulip as a tribute in memory of the general secretary of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Jenny Martínez, who recently died in an accident.

The event will feature the participation of Los Tres, Los Jaivas, Los Bunkers, Sebastián Yatra, Ana Tijoux and Movimiento Original, who will be in charge of providing the music. Likewise, the Pan-American flame will be lit in the cauldron.

“Our athletes are ready and prepared to start the competitions at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and we pay tribute to who he was in life, our general secretary Jenny Martínez. We know that tulips were the flowers she liked, so our athletes will wear a tulip over her heart in tribute to Jenny’s memory,” said the president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee (COP), Renzo Manyari.

The next edition of the Pan American and Parapan American Games will be held for the first time in history in Chile, precisely in the capital: Santiago.

This important event will open on Friday, October 20 and will end on Sunday, November 5, when all competitions have ended and the general medal table has been closed.
