“It was constructive”: Galtier and the FFR president held a report after the elimination of the “blues”

It’s time to take stock. Promised “in the coming days” at the beginning of the week, the debriefing between Fabien Galthier and the leaders of the French Rugby Federation took place this Friday at noon via a remote meeting.

The Blues coach, FRF President Florian Grill and FRF Vice-President delegated Jean-Marc Lerme to the meeting at a high level; the program, of course, included the results of the World Cup and the World Cup. Preparations are already underway for upcoming events, in particular for the VI Tournament of Nations in early 2024.

“It’s stupid to make radical decisions”

“It was a mutual request. We wanted to move on from the big blow to the head we took on Sunday and get back to other things. It was constructive,” said Jean-Marc Lerme in a column for L’Equipe. Specifically, not a single decision has been officially made, not a single case has been examined in detail.

“It was very positive, we are preparing for the future and looking for areas for improvement,” concluded Florian Grill. Therefore, there will be no serious upheavals in the team. The only change is that Nicolas Jeanjean is to be promoted to compensate for the departure of Thibaut Giroud, director of performances, to Union Bordeaux-Begles.

“At this stage it would be foolish to make drastic decisions just days after the match. We need to really understand Fabien’s goals and project,” analyzes the FFR vice-president, delegated at a high level, again for L’Equipe. Troop morale was good, despite Fabien Galthier still clearly suffering from the brutal annihilation, but “mutual trust” was confirmed. The Blues coach will remain in his post, Le Parisien announced the day after their quarter-final loss to South Africa. His contract runs until 2028.
