Pogba’s conclusion: what the player said to his loved ones during their confrontation

No hard feelings towards Paul Pogba? During the recent confrontation, the French player assured his loved ones suspected of involvement in his March 2022 arrest that they would “always have a place in his heart.” “I have great respect for all the people who are here, they were like family to me,” the footballer told the two investigating judges who organized the confrontation on September 15 in a Paris court.

“The truth will come out. (…) Despite everything that has happened, they will always have a place in my heart,” insists the world champion, according to legal information obtained by AFP. Words echoing statements from suspects, childhood friends or old acquaintances of the player: Boubacar K. feels “heartache” at the thought that Pogba could “think (he) wanted to hurt him,” Machicourt K. says he “ deeply upset.” hurt,” while Mamadou M. claims that he always “wanted to protect him.”

Five of the player’s relatives have been charged

Since September 2022, two magistrates have been investigating the incredible kidnapping of Pogba on March 19, 2022, in a Paris suburb, during which two unknown robbers demanded 13 million euros from him. Five of his relatives have been charged with extortion with the use of weapons and kidnapping by an organized gang. The men, aged between 29 and 38, are also being charged with conspiracy.

But they all deny this, presenting themselves as “victims” of the robbers and claiming that they themselves were attacked because Pogba refused to pay. Paul’s brother, Mathias, who was also charged but was absent on the night of the abduction, was not called to the confrontation. Magistrates first seek to clarify the financial relationship between the player and his relatives.

The footballer explained that he “voluntarily” helped his loved ones, but in September 2021 he refused to transfer seven million euros to three of them. The latter categorically deny that they asked for such a sum. “I told them it was too much,” Pogba continues, but “I could help them in other ways and gave them some money”: between 15,000 and 20,000 euros each.

The footballer also clarified that before his imprisonment he “distanced himself” from his friends. Failure, a priori not perceived by those close to him: only one thing confirms that he “broke ties.” According to a police report known to AFP, written before the clash, the five form “a criminal group (…) with the aim of obtaining 13 million euros from Paul, who stopped deliveries at the beginning of the year.”
