National proud! The Peruvian surfer María Fernanda ‘Mafer’ Reyes won the gold medal in longboard by beating Brazil’s Chloe Calmon in the final of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023.
The national representative demonstrated all her hierarchy on the Chilean beach of Punta de Lobos and won the gold medal with a total score of 7.50.
Chloe Calmon, for her part, scored 6.64, but it was not enough to surpass the Peruvian. She kept the silver medal.
Earlier, Benoit ‘Piccolo’ Clemente became two-time Pan American champion by winning gold in longboard by defeating Chilean Rafael Cortez.
The national surfer, who also won gold in the Pan American Games held in 2019 in Lima, left the name of Peru at the top on the Chilean beach of Punta de Lobos, by recording a total score of 12.16.
His rival achieved a final result of 10.37.
With the victory of Mafer Reyes, the Peruvian team won his fifth gold medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Our squad also holds one silver and 11 bronze medals, registering a total of 17 medals so far in the competition.
