Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth says he is happy with the club despite speculation over a move to Manchester United.
During his time on the south coast as technical director of the Seagulls, Ashworth helped develop Brighton into the club it is today.
Newcastle then appointed him in 2022 and last season he helped the club qualify for the Champions League.
Gary Neville praised Ashworth in a tweet last week, saying he was an example of the kind of character Manchester United need at board level.
But Ashworth insists he is happy in the North East and has no plans to leave the Magpies.
“I’m really happy here,” Ashworth told the Guardian.
“Newcastle is a beautiful city, a beautiful club and a beautiful project.” I think I’m the same as Eddie.
“I am determined to pursue all three and am really enjoying the challenge.”
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be interested in hiring a football director as he takes a 25% stake in the club.
Richard Arnold and John Murtough have shared roles in recent years, but both face uncertain futures.
