The German soccer team closed its preparation tour of the United States on Tuesday with a 2-2 draw against Mexico, in a friendly match played at the Lincoln Financial Field stadium in Philadelphia before 62,284 spectators.

Antonio Rüdiger, in the 25th minute, and Florian Wirtz, in the 51st minute, scored Germany’s goals. Uriel Antuna, at 37, and Érick Sánchez, at 47, scored for Mexico.

This was the 13th match between Mexico and Germany (formerly West Germany). The balance is five wins for the ‘Mannschaft’, two wins for the ‘Tri’ and six draws.

Both teams will have their next commitments in November. Germany will play two preparation matches for Euro 2024: on Saturday, November 18, they will host Turkey in Berlin and on Tuesday, November 21, they will visit Austria in Vienna.

For its part, Mexico will face the quarterfinals of the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League, a tie that will give the winner a pass to the Copa América-2024.
