Ecuador got rid of the thorn of the 3-point reduction on the field by beating Chile 1-0 in Quito this Tuesday, in a long-suffering match for the sixth round of the 2026 North American World Cup Qualifiers. The Tricolor won at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium with a goal from Ángel Mena, who punished the Chileans with a left foot in the 21st minute. This victory has the flavor of revenge for the Ecuadorians, from whom the TAS deducted three points in the current qualifier after Chile’s complaint for the improper inclusion of Byron Castillo.
