The Orlando City SC club, of the American Major League Soccer (MLS), reported this Thursday that it acquired the pass of Peruvian midfielder Wilder Cartagena, who will remain linked to that institution until 2025.
“Hello, Orlando fans, I am very happy to still be here and we are going next season for a championship, a hug,” the former Alianza Lima player is heard saying in a video shared by his team on the social network X.
Wilder Cartagena arrived at Orlando City SC on loan from Al-Ittihad Kalba FC, of the United Arab Emirates Pro League. Thanks to his good performances and his commitment to the institution, it decided to acquire his pass with a guaranteed contract until 2025.
“Wilder took a big step forward for us the last two years, bringing veteran experience to our midfield, adding a lot of strength and setting us up for success last season,” said Orlando executive vice president of soccer operations and general manager City, Luiz Muzzi.
“Bringing him back to Orlando after his loan expired was a key part of our plans for next season, and beyond and we are happy to be able to bring him back here and secure him with us,” he added.

Since he arrived on loan to the ‘lions’ team, Cartagena, a player for the Peruvian national team, started 33 games, scored three goals and provided two assists.
Two of the Peruvian’s three goals helped Orlando City win its games against Santos Laguna, for the 2023 Leagues Cup, and against Nashville SC, for the 2023 MLS Audi Cup playoffs.
Trained at Alianza Lima, the midfielder has played his football in teams such as Vitória Setubal (Portugal), Universidad San Martín de Porres (Peru), Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz (Mexico), Godoy Cruz (Argentina) and Al-Ittihad Kalba SC (Emirates United Arabs).
