Luke Littler has revealed the stylish message of support he received from Rob Cross after securing his place in the final of the World Darts Championship.
The 16-year-old continued his fairytale performance in the competition by beating former world champions Cross 6-2 in another incredible performance at Alexandra Palace.
Luke Humphries awaits him on Wednesday in the final, where Little can become the youngest world champion in darts history.
Cross won the first set and averaged over 100 on Tuesday night, but could not stop the teenager’s remarkable rise.
Littler will be aiming to win the championship on his debut, just as Cross himself did when he defeated Phil Taylor in 2018 after turning professional 11 months earlier.
After the match, Cross was seen on stage talking to his young rival. When asked what Voltage said to him, Littler said, “He just said, ‘God bless you, I respect you and I’m doing it.’
“I have no words for it, it’s just crazy that I’m in a World Cup final on my debut.” I was happy to have won a match, but I could give it my all.
“My goal was to be here after Christmas and now here I am in the final.” I was just installed on stage. Once I find the rhythm, I can start.”
Just weeks after his remarkable run in the capital, Littler has become one of the hottest names in British sport.
Humphries now awaits in the final on Wednesday. His 6-0 victory over Scott Williams extended his undefeated streak to 18 matches and officially made him the No. 1 player in the sport.
But he expects a big test against Littler as he believes he must improve on his excellent performance on Tuesday to win the Sid Waddell Trophy.
‘Nothing will faze him. “I’ll probably have to play the game of my life,” Humphries said.
“I have a difficult task and hope we can give people one of the best world finals ever.”
