U-23 Pre-Olympic standings table: see how it goes today with Peru leading

U-23 standings: see the movements in the classification of group A and group B with the results of the matches of the first date of the group stage. Peru is one of the leaders after beating Chile.

Peru, with its goalkeeper Diego Romero as a figure, beat Chile in a sub-23 edition of the Pacific Classic. Franchesco Flores scored the goal for the team coached by José Guillermo ‘Chemo’ del Solar in the 67th minute.

Chile had had better chances in Valencia, but they lacked aim and when they did have it they crashed into goalkeeper Romero. “This is the result of the effort of the entire group,” celebrated the goalkeeper.

The Peruvian team ended up with ten men due to the expulsion of Mathías Llontop in the 86th minute for a double warning.

Monday is a free date. Group A will resume next Tuesday with Brazil’s debut against Bolivia and the Peru-Venezuela match. B is reactivated on Wednesday with the Paraguay-Uruguay and Peru-Argentina commitments.

The two best in each bracket will advance to the final phase of this Under-23 tournament, which grants two places in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
