The study carried out analyzes the team interactions on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube and TikTok.
One point to take into account is that Universitario became champion of League 1 2023 after beating his ‘compadre’, Alianza Lima, in the final.
According to a survey by the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP), published at the beginning of December 2023, Alianza Lima and Universitario de Deportes are tied with 16% of fans each.
This result contrasts with the 2020 survey, where Alianza Lima led with 19%. Apparently, the recent title of the ‘U’ has reduced the gap.
The survey also reveals that the ‘U’ has more followers in the high and middle socioeconomic sectors, while Alianza predominates in lower-income sectors and in rural Peru.
In the case of Metropolitan Lima, Alianza Lima wins with 24%, compared to 20% of Universitario. Sporting Cristal occupies third place with 8%.
