Agustín Lozano about Ricardo Gareca in Chile: “We are going to compete with him professionally”

The president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), Agustin Lozanospoke about the hiring of Ricardo Gareca as coach of the Chilean national team, and highlighted the ‘Tigre’s’ time in charge of the red and white team.

“Ricardo is a professional like all of us, we must wish him the best. Undoubtedly, when he plays for Peru we cannot wish him the same,” he said in statements to the press after the presentation of the new League 1 sponsor.

“These things happen in football and today we have him in front of us as a rival, and we are going to compete with him professionally accordingly,” he added.

Along these lines, he highlighted the importance it had during the two qualifying processes with a World Cup qualification and a playoff, in addition to a Copa América final.

“We will always be grateful for everything he did for the country, for everything he left in Peruvian football, but today we are in a different scenario,” he noted.

Likewise, he was emphatic in marking distance and giving the new coach of the Peruvian team Jorge Fossati the place he deserves.

“We have to dedicate ourselves to giving the support and respect, and all the support to Professor Fossati so that our team reaches the best level and we can recover the space we need to be able to qualify for the next World Cup,” he concluded.
