Parc des Princes “in the heritage of Parisians”: elected officials called for refusal to sell the PSG stadium

Will the city authorities of Paris sell the Parc des Princes to Paris Saint-Germain? The debate between the two parties has raged for more than a year. The club, the tenant of the enclosure, wishes to purchase it to continue its development. City officials, once open to the idea, shut down discussions during the unexpected departure of Mayor Anne Hidalgo in January 2023.

Since then, there have been no further exchanges between the two sides. And it is not the vote that is due on Tuesday, February 5, in the Paris Council that should restore their ties. Anne Hidalgo’s team will indeed defend the desire to reaffirm the Parc des Princes as part of the heritage of Paris. “The desire of the owner of PSG to acquire the stadium cannot prevail over the desire for this legendary building to remain in the heritage of the Parisians,” states the text that the executive director will present to the Parisian consultants.
