Due to violence by barristas: Government evaluates whether future League 1 matches will take place without an audience

The president of the Republic, Dina Boluartereported this Monday that the Executive is evaluating the possibility that the next matches of the Peruvian professional soccer tournament (League 1 I bet you) take place without public in the stands.

This, after the clashes registered in the district of St. Anita between barristas University of Sports and Lima Allianceon Saturday, February 17, where four people – including two minors – were injured by gunshots.

“It has been arranged that tomorrow (Tuesday the 20th) the respective sports authorities will meet to see, in the next sporting event, what measures we are going to take regarding attendance at closed stadiums without an audience, or will attendance with an audience be maintained,” Boluarte indicated in the Government Palace, during the first management preview of 2024.

The president called on the barristas of the different teams not to engage in acts of violence.

Sports do not entail bringing firearms into the stadium. The hubbub, the joy, can be enjoyed in a thousand ways, without threatening the life of any passerby, any person.”, he stated.

Finally, he called on professional football clubs to meet and coordinate with their barristas so that violent episodes do not occur again in stadiums.
