One more Argentine at Inter Miami CF: the club where Lionel Messi plays, announced today that it hired midfielder, Federico Redondo, who arrives from Argentinos Juniors. The young promise’s contract is until 2027, with an option to extend it until 2028.

Redondo, 21, joins the Club from Argentinos Juniors, where he developed with the youth ranks before making his professional debut in the Argentine top flight in 2022. Since then, the defensive midfielder has made a total of 58 appearances in all competitions, registering two goals and two assists.

The midfielder joins the Club as a U22 Initiative player, and as a late-season injury replacement for U22 Initiative player Facundo Farías, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

“We are delighted to bring an exciting young midfielder like Federico to Inter Miami. He is a very promising player, very agile with the ball at his feet and who shows awareness outside of possession. “We believe in his potential, but also feel that he will immediately be a strong addition to our team as we look to build on our successes in 2024.”said Chris Henderson, director of football and athletic director.

At the international level, the midfielder born in Madrid, Spain, has represented the Argentine National Team in the Under-20 and Under-23 categories. Notably, Redondo made four appearances for the U-20 team at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina last year and most recently appeared in six matches at the 2024 CONMEBOL Olympic Qualifying Tournament, when the U-23 team qualified for the 2024 World Summer Olympics in Paris and finished as runner-up; Redondo scored a goal in the competition.

Redondo is the son of former Argentine footballer Fernando Redondo, who played for Argentinos Juniors, Tenerife, Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Argentine national team throughout his career from 1985 to 2004.
