In an unprecedented event, a first division match in Peru, of the League 1 I bet youwill have a complete team of women to manage the VAR.
In commemoration of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated this March 8, the National Commission of Referees (CONAR) with the endorsement of the Peruvian Football Federation, together with its technology provider Mediapro Perú, decided on such a measure.
The chosen duel will be the one between Deportivo Garcilaso and Universitario de Deportes, for the seventh date of League 1 I Bet You.
The video refereeing will be in charge of Milagros Arruela and her assistant will be Gabriela Moreno, with the supervision of the president of the National Referees Commission, Carmen Retuerto, and the head of the VAR project, Minelli Zapata.
The team that will guarantee the match will be made up of Mediapro Perú and the VAR Mobile Unit that has a Guarantor Technician, a Replay Operator and the Assistant of the Referee Review Area will be on the field.
“The appointment of a VAR team made up exclusively of women underlines the commitment of the institutions involved to gender equality and the promotion of equal opportunities in Peruvian football,” said Alfredo Arosemena, CEO of Mediapro Peru.
