Peruvian pride: Juan Pablo Varillas won Challenger de Santiago

Juan Pablo Varillas once again stood out internationally. This Sunday he won the ATP Challenger of Santiago II, his second title of the year. He did so after surpassing Sebastián Baez from Argentina, ranked 140 in the world.

The national tennis player won 6-4 and 7-5 to win the “Dove Men + Care South American Legion” tournament, held in the Chilean capital.

It was not an easy task. In the first set he knew how to overcome a 0-4 down to direct the victory and came out again in the second set after being broken down.

Varillas thus adds the fourth title of his career in this category, the second in the course of the 2020 season. He was also consecrated in Biella, Italy (May 2021). Then he finished second in Ambato and was eliminated in the second round of the Lima Challenger.
