  • The Olympic flame of the Paris Olympics will be lit this Tuesday at around 11 am (noon local time) in Greece on the site of the ancient city of Olympia.
  • The Olympic flame will then be handed over to Greek Stefanos Ntouskos, Olympic champion in rowing. The second torchbearer will be former French swimmer Laura Manadou.
  • The sacred fire will then cross Greece for eleven days before boarding the sailing ship Belen and arriving in Marseille, France on May 8th.

The former swimmer and Athens 2004 Olympic champion will become the second Olympic torchbearer. She will be chasing Greek rowing gold medalist Stefanos Ntouskos.

The traditional ceremony takes place at the ancient site of Olympia.

According to tradition, the Olympic flame will be lit in the heart of the ruins of the ancient city of Olympia. The High Priestess will use the rays of the sun to ignite the sacred fire.
