Creteil manager and former PSG Sammy Traore has been suspended for 16 matches for insulting the referee.

Sammy Traore, back at his US training club Creteil Lusitanos as sports coordinator since January, has just been detained by patrol for insulting a referee. Inappropriate behavior resulting in a strict sixteen game suspension and a €50 fine for his club.

As reported by L’Équipe, the former PSG defender (2006-2011) allegedly made insults and was aggressive and disrespectful towards the assistant referee during the U16 match between his club and French side Racing in the first round (1- 2). ).

Sammy Traore claims ‘there is no serious problem’

According to the referee’s report, in addition to insults on several occasions, the former Mali international (21 caps) “incited his players to commit serious offenses against their opponents.” US team leader Creteil Lusitanos had earlier voluntarily crossed the field and delayed the restart of the match at half-time.

For his part, back in the report sent to the commission, Sammy Traore explained that he has “no serious problems” with the referee in question and that he has no “disrespectful attitude” towards anyone. This was not enough to convince the disciplinary committee of the French Football Federation.
