Back in the country in the midst of her preparation to seek a ticket to Paris 2024, national swimmer Alexia Sotomayor stood out again and broke the 50-meter butterfly record last weekend.
Our representative recorded a time of 27.36 seconds in the Campo de Marte Olympic pool and surpassed the mark held by Mckenna DeBever.
The registration does not facilitate their classification for the next Olympic Games, however, it adds up in the midst of their preparation to seek a ticket to Paris 2024 in two international competitions.
“The Olympic Games are the biggest dream that an athlete can have. It is the dream I have had since I started in this sport. For me, it would be an honor to represent the country. Due to classification restrictions in swimming, I have the chance to qualify and it will be decided with another teammate. It’s a pretty big fight. We both have that dream,” Alexia Sotomayor highlighted in an interview with Legado, months before defining her presence in the Games.
The Peruvian swimmer is getting ready to compete in two international competitions that will be decisive in achieving the dreamed classification for Paris 2024. This is through the scoring system of the International Swimming Federation (FINA).
