Luis Guadalupe coincided, in 1999, with the deceased former Argentine soccer player and coach César Luis Menottiwho in that year directed Independiente de Avellaneda.
Even the charismatic ‘Cuto’ scored an important goal during the aforementioned season, for the Mercosur Cup at the Pacaembú stadium in Sao Paulo against Corinthians.
It was a 2-1 victory for the ‘Red’ and the Peruvian was the author of the score that sealed the victory for those led by Menotti.
After Menotti’s death was confirmed last Sunday, Luis Guadalupe spoke with RPP and was very saddened by the news and was encouraged to share his experience under his leadership.
“Sad by Menotti’s death, the way he reached out to the footballer was impressive. He had a good relationship with the country. The way he coached was very special, he always told me that he had to pay attention to what the match against Corinthians was going to be like, he came on at a key moment and I was able to score the winning goal. “He was always very kind to me,” he said.
