“We are united around sport, and it’s nice”: the flame spreads Olympic fever throughout France

Sandrine admits it only languidly and with an embarrassed smile, but it was in order to see the flame that her son abandoned his classmates this Thursday morning. Nils, 14 years old, is crazy about sports. Thanks to the capital’s Libourne community, he will be among the spectators at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. “I will watch 3×3 basketball, triathlon, volleyball and even all-round,” enthuses the teenager from Sainte-Terre, near Saint-Emilion (Gironde).

“They were chosen by 30 people,” rejoices his mother, who is herself a big sports fan. Two months, almost a day before the start of the competition, they are immersed in the atmosphere of the Games for the first time. Located along the barriers of Place Abel-Surchan, opposite the Libourne town hall, the duo are impatient and stomping their feet.
