A giant fight during a football tournament in Creteil

Police reinforcements converged on the scene from across the department. This Sunday, late in the afternoon, a gigantic brawl involving between 250 and 350 people broke out at the Dominique-Duvauchelle stadium in Créteil (Val-de-Marne).

According to the first information collected, several dozen people entered the field and began to fight among themselves as part of the tournament. The teams will come from different areas of Val-de-Marne, as well as from Seine-et-Marne. Mortar fire was seen at the scene.

No arrests

We understand that more than 350 people were detained at the scene by police, including members of the anti-crime brigade, security companies and interventionists, to try to restore calm before dispersing people. No arrests were made.

At this time, we do not know if any of the participants or police officers were injured. The mayor’s office did not appear to be aware of the sporting event, but “an elected official rushed to the event,” multiple sources said.

This stadium, which already hosted the National Neighborhood Cup in July 2022, is set to host a fan zone and the transfer of the Olympic flame on one of the secondary fields at the foot of the Handball House.
