Paris 2024 Olympics: Isaora Tibus, who suffered from ligament damage in her left knee, is unsure of her participation in the Games

Five months after her last performance, France’s Isaora Thibus, suspended in early February after a positive doping test, was injured this Wednesday morning while competing at the European Championships in Basel, Switzerland.

She left the track in tears before going for an MRI to determine the severity of her left knee injury. There was great concern in the run-up to the Paris Olympics.

The verdict was handed down on Wednesday evening. The foil player suffered a ligament injury. She will not compete in the team competition at her European Championships. But her participation in the Olympic Games is still possible, but now very doubtful.

Jean-Yves Robin, national technical director, elaborates: “We will need a few days to transmit the results of the examination to our specialists at INSEP in order to find out what treatment will need to be followed and the specific nature in terms of the delay in its treatment. potential unavailability.”

He clarifies: “There is no gap a priori. This means that she could potentially participate in the Games. We are not in complete disaster, but we are not sure. The deadlines are tight, so we will contact all specialists to make the best diagnosis. This situation affected her greatly.”

In addition, Anita Blaze, also injured this Wednesday morning, is “going through concussion protocol.” She will also miss the team event.
