The story of Ulises, the 6-year-old Argentine boy who went viral for playing soccer with a pacifier

Youth football often offers the most curious scenes. On more than one occasion the children give a lesson to the elders about values, solidarity and respect for the rules of the game. But in addition, there are also some little ones that usually call attention to some detail.

This is the case of Ulises Cáceres Martínez, a 6-year-old boy, who has become famous for playing soccer with a pacifier. The number 10 of the 2015 category of Argentinos Juniors has gone viral on social networks for a photo where he is seen avoiding rivals while carrying his bottle in his mouth. And as expected, they already baptized him with the appellation of “Pacifier”.

Ariel, his proud dad, has revealed some details of his son’s unique habit to the Argentine press. “The pacifier (pacifier) is essential for him. Without it he is not calm, he does not sleep … As I told the Argentine teacher, he plays better with the pacifier ”, as he told the media Infobae.

Out of Fort Apache

Little Ulises’s father has been cleaning buildings in the Army de los Andes neighborhood for two years. popularly known as Fort Apache, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Buenos Aire and famous for being the same where soccer player Carlos Tevez lived his childhood.

“There are days that we have and days that we don’t. Sometimes we go with the bottles of water and without a load in the Sube. To Ulises, when ever I couldn’t buy him an empanada or have an ice cream, I explained that sometimes there are and sometimes not. We are humble and very believing, there is a great God who will one day reward us, “he said.

On the play of little Ulises in the minor divisions of Argentinos Juniors he said: “He has a lot of energy, he comes and goes all the time. And when he grabs her in the middle of the court, he goes forward ”.

At first, the coaches suggested to the father that his son not train and play with the pacifier in his mouth for fear of receiving a ball or that he was injured in a fall, but it was his own father who encouraged them to enable him to use it while playing because it made him feel more comfortable.

“Before, she used a necklace that was 5 or 6. She has a pacifier under the bed, another in the kitchen; all over the house there. We know that they do not recommend it, due to the teeth and palate, and we tried to remove it, but he did not sleep, he spent the whole morning awake and did not eat either, “he said. “He is not ashamed to use it at all,” he concluded.
