Official: Liga MX confirmed the schedules for the final of the Apertura 2021 round trip of Atlas vs. Lion

Lima, December 6, 2021Updated 12/06/2021 01:05 pm

The decisive moment has arrived. The Liga Mx confirmed the final schedule on Monday and does not have a clear favorite because both teams arrive on equal terms. In the first leg that will take place this Thursday, December 9, Atlas will visit León; days later, on Sunday December 12, the ‘Rojinegros’ will host the ‘Fiera’.

Los Rojinegros return to a final after more than 22 years and León will be the team with which they will compete to define the champion of the Apertura 2021 tournament of Mexican soccer. Those led by Argentine Diego Cocca have been showing the best defense of the championship, which is led by Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas.

To reach the final, Atlas drew goalless at the Monterrey stadium, in the quarterfinals, and defeated the Pumas UNAM at their stadium, 0-1 in the semifinals; Key to the triumphs in those series were the results in the first leg matches in other people’s yards, a trend that the team will try to endorse this Thursday.

On the other hand, those led by Argentine strategist Ariel Holan, eliminated Puebla in the quarterfinals and Tigres UANL, in the semifinals, with two goals in each series by Ecuadorian Ángel Mena, who is in his best moment of the year.

It is almost a fact that Mena will pair up front with the Chilean Víctor Dávila in order to win the first leg at home and arrive with an advantage for the second leg on Sunday, at Jalisco, the Atlas stadium.

The two teams committed distractions in the semifinals; León received two goals in two minutes at the end of the first leg against the Tigres and Atlas conceded a goal due to an error by goalkeeper Vargas, perhaps the best of the tournament, at the end of the decisive duel against Pumas.
