Champions League: the duel of Atalanta vs. Villarreal was postponed by the snow

Everything was complicated at Gewiss Stadium. Atalanta and Villarreal were supposed to meet for the sixth and last day of the Champions League group stage, but, due to the intense snow, he had to be suspended and will have to wait until Thursday to find out which team will go to the eighth of final.

The match between Atalanta and Villarreal, corresponding to the sixth and last day of group F of the Champions League, was postponed this Wednesday due to the heavy snowfall in Bergamo. They tried for a long moment to start the game, they were even cleaning the grass for more than 20 minutes, however, it was not achieved.

The Gewiss Stadium loudspeaker confirmed with a message the postponement of the match, which will be attempted this Thursday, if conditions permit. The start of the duel was scheduled at 3:00 pm (Peruvian time), but the heavy snow falling in northern Italy forced them to delay first, and then postpone, their dispute.

Atalanta and Villarreal played their way to the knockout stages of the Champions League as second in their group, behind leader Manchester United. The ‘Yellow Submarine’ needs not to lose in Bergamo to be among the best in the ‘Orejona’; while those of Italy will seek everything with Duvan Zapata.

It should be noted that the draw for the round of 16 will be on Monday, December 13, which is why the duel between Italians and Spanish must be defined before that date.
