The Real Betis coach, the Chilean Manuel Pellegrini, admitted this Wednesday at a press conference the “deep sadness” felt upon learning of the withdrawal of the Argentine forward Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero, announced today, due to a heart condition.

Pellegrini managed Agüero, “a great player on and off the field”, at Manchester City in England, during three seasons between 2013 and 2016, in which the ‘citizens’ won a Premier League and two League Cups.

“I regret your withdrawal. I was deeply saddened to hear the news because I think he had years of football left, although I’m sure he will recover from this blow, “added the Santiago coach.

Barcelona’s Argentine forward Sergio “Kun” Agüero announced on Wednesday his immediate retirement from soccer for health reasons.

The 33-year-old striker underwent various heart tests after leaving the Spanish league game that faced Barça and Alavés on October 30.

His health has been under review ever since, and an excited Aguero said during a press conference at the Camp Nou that he had decided to hang up his boots.

Agüero is one of the best known players in the world. He arrived at the Barça club this summer after 10 years at Manchester City, where he became one of the great stars of English football.
