Cagliari excluded Godín and Cáceres: “They are not worthy of wearing this shirt”

Cagliari excluded the Uruguayans on Monday Diego Godin Y Martin Cáceres of the list of summoned for the appointment of this Tuesday against Juventus, a decision taken after the 0-4 humiliation suffered last Saturday against Udinese.

The coach Walter Mazzarri excluded the two veterans from a call in which the Uruguayan Nahitan Nández did enter, something that in the Italian media has been interpreted as a punishment for the very negative performance seen against Udinese.

“Some are not worthy of wearing this shirt and have played their last game with Cagliari,” said an enraged Stefano Capozzucca, Cagliari’s sporting director, at the end of the match against Udinese.

He did not mention specific players, but he did confirm strongly that coach Mazzarri would remain in office.

Godín started that game, while Cáceres jumped onto the field at the beginning of the second half, without preventing Udinese from sweeping away with a double from Spain’s Gerard Deulofeu and goals from Argentina’s Nahuel Molina and Frenchman’s Jean Makengo.

The Faraón, flag of the Uruguayan national team, was able to leave the club in the last market session, but Cagliari did not find any clubs willing to face his salary of four million euros net per season. Martín Cáceres was not called up by Cagliari
