TikTok launches its own meal delivery service

The social network TikTok is embarking on a new adventure. Specialized in video sharing, it is now in the food industry that the platform wants to offer a new service. Called “TikTok Kitchen”, it is a “delivery only” service, reports Phonandroid. The application’s most popular recipes will be offered there.

TikTok, for example, asked YouTuber Mr Beast to sell viral burgers. Other brands, influencers or celebrities were also contacted. For this new service, TikTok has partnered with GrubHub as well as a Virtual Dining Concepts (VDC) platform that allows customers to license recipes and brands.

Available only in the United States for the moment

The objective is to develop take-out menus in the kitchens of other restaurants or within delivery restaurants only, “ghost kitchens”. 300 establishments should first open in the United States. A figure which could rise to 1,000 establishments by the end of 2022. All establishments that wish to do so can also apply to become a “market partner” and welcome the preparation of orders from TikTok Kitchen.

Training, food packaging and recipes will be provided by the social network. Menus should change quarterly to accommodate content uploaded to TikTok. This service will only be available in the United States for now, but depending on its success, it could be rolled out in several other countries.
