Manchester City and Arsenal feast and give us a rain of goals for Boxing Day

Goals from everywhere, games and entertainment, the Premier League regaled us again on the occasion of the post-New Year’s Boxing Day, Sunday. Manchester City and Leicester, his sparring partner of the day, notably offered us a football recital near the Etihad Stadium, with a victory (6-3) for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola’s men rolled over the Foxes during a very high-end first period, scoring four goals (De Bruyne, Mahrez, Gündogan, Sterling) and producing close-to-perfect team play, before fully plunging and cashing three pawns in quick succession (Maddison, Lookman and Ihenanacho) upon returning from the locker room. But Aymeric Laporte (69th) and Raheem Sterling (87th) put their foot on the accelerator to kill the match and give City their fifteenth success in nineteen league games.

Arsenal unrolls, Lacazette has fun

Arsenal also took place by winning 5-0 on the lawn of Watford, the red lantern of the Premier League, thanks to a brace from Bukayo Saka (6th, 67th) and goals from Tierney (44th), Lacazette (84th) and Smithe-Rowe (91st). Barely at the start of the season – if not for years – the Gunners are in the process of regaining their former glory and playing sexy football under the orders of Pep Guardiola’s former assistant, Mikel Arteta.

Finally, Tottenham easily defeated the Crystal Palace of Patrick Vieira (absent from the bench on Sunday due to Covid-19) and won 3-0 with goals from Kane (31st), Lucas (33rd) and Son ( 74th), while Southampton went to win on the lawn of West Ham (3-2).
