The Australian Open continues with its development and the participants of the contest have left memorable matches. One of the recent attractive duels occurred in the 3-2 victory of the Spanish Pablo Carreño Busta (ATP: 21) over the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor (ATP: 62), although not only because they reached the fifth set, but also because of a curious point.

For this key of the thirty-second finals, the representative of Spain was considered a favorite, given his better position in the ranking and his good performance during the last season. However, the confrontation was very close, even leading to a tie-break twice, in the second and third half.

Precisely, in the third set there was an impressive point by Pablo Carreño Busta, who thrilled all the fans present at the Kia Arena in Melbourne. The duel was 4-3 in favor of the Spaniard and he had the possibility of reaching the fifth point, although Griekspoor did not lower his arms and made a difficult elevated shot.

The Dutchman hit the ball and it slowed down in the air, went over the net and landed on Carreño’s field, but the effect made it return to the other side of the field. Despite being far away, the Hispanic athlete ran as fast as he could and, when he was heading to the side zone, where the referee was located, he managed to respond to the attack he received.

After peeking into the rival area, Pablo Carreño Busta used his right arm to hit and finished the point, which he celebrated euphorically, while Griekspoor couldn’t believe what he had seen. Finally, the Spaniard would win the set 7-6 and, although he lost in the fourth round (3-6), he knew how to secure victory with a 6-4 victory in the fifth match, after four hours and 14 minutes.

When does Carreño Busta play again?

Pablo Carreño Busta will return to singles activity at the Australian Open this Thursday, January 20, when he faces the American Sebastian Korda (ATP: 43) for the round of 32. Previously, the Spanish tennis player will also have a doubles game: he will accompany his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz against the Italian duo made up of Gianluca Mager and Lorenzo Musetti (Wednesday, January 19).
